Any reviews for Hale Kamaole Condos appreciated.

We will be visiting Maui later this year and am looking for a nice condo for 4 people. I%26#39;ve looked at the website:www.vrbo.com and one of them is the Hale Kamaole. The pictures look very nice.

Any advice if booking from the owners - what to look out for ... what do I ask?

Any advice will be much appreciated. Thanks

We have stayed at the Hale Kamaole for the last 3 yrs and again this November, the complex is very well maintained. the unit we stay in is great, has every amenity we require, the people we meet at the BBQ each evening are very interesting and some entertainng, the evenings cooking at the BBQ is probably one of the highlites of the vacation. We have no complaints at all pertaining to the complex. We find it very quiet.

Just my 2 cents

Cheers

Marjorie

Thank you for replying. If you don%26#39;t mind me asking - which condo did you get, and did you go through the rental agency or through the owners?

Because Hale Kamaole is an older property -- not unusual since many along Kihei Road are older -- you really want to book a specific unit you know has been refurbished. An agency will put you %26#39;just anywhere%26#39;. I%26#39;d book via VRBO.

Ask about every aspect of the condo and property important to you. Ask for photos and ask how old the photos are. Ask what you do if the A/C stops working, etc.? Does the owner live on Maui or employ an agency to take care of things like that? (Friends once encountered a broken TV and coffee maker. The condo owner%26#39;s %26#39;on island contact person%26#39; didn%26#39;t get back to them until they were packing to go home.)

Thanks for the tips. I think we will book directly with the owner on VRBO.

We have stayed at the Hale Kamaole many years. Our first time we went through a Kihei Travel Agency. Our first condo offered was right on the end (best views) but noisy and not safe for a 3 year old so we asked to be changed and got to choose from 6. So that was a plus. We don%26#39;t care new or old furnishings, what we wanted was a bottom unit right on the grass in the bottom section of the property. Kids are there and it%26#39;s easy play, in and out and watching the kids.

One bedroom units are usually air conditioned right in the bedroom only and so the sofa bed area can feel warm at night in the summer, once you get used to it it%26#39;s no big deal. There are 3 levels of one bedrooms in 2 of the buildings and 1 bedrooms with 2 bedroom units above n the other 2. I would opt not to have a middle group. Top for quiet. Bottom for kids. The people above us seem to have ';boots'; on every year.

Our second year we just looked at the business cards posted and called various ones that met our wants. So we call direct. There are many returning families, couples each year and yes the evening conch shell call indicating it%26#39;s cocktail hour and time to fire up the BBQ. It%26#39;s not gas, buy charcoal.

the people are very nice that we have met and remet over the years. If you are 4 adults go for one that is going to save you money and use it for fun stuff or souvenirs.

The property has tennis courts and a book loaner area for when you go through all your books laying on the beach. Its not fancy but really relaxing. It%26#39;s in a great location to go and pretend you are wealthy and staying in the Grand Wailea or Kea Lani each morning. It%26#39;s a good jog down and back along the pathway with water stops.

Our unit that we rent is #117 and what is a bonus is their maid service leaves stuff like wax paper, spices etc so you don%26#39;t need as much to cook, most things are available too that you would need for the beach. umbrellas, chairs.

Have a great visit.

Thanks so much for your feedback.

I think we will be very happy with our rental condo - we are on the top floor - less noise - and the recent photos show a really nice and comfortable place.

I%26#39;ll make sure to write a review of the condo when I return.

Thanks to everyone who contributed.

we have stayed at Hale Kamaole 3 times loved it we knew who we where renting from 2 different condos ground level and at the lower level across from the pool only reason for not returning is we can never get the dates we want.

Ah Pebroruf--you will find many a Vancouverite at the Hale Kamaole. We rent from a family from Vancouver. :) Did you get a rental car? We used Maui Cruisers and got a $23 a day all inclusive rate. (not a fancy car but with AC) There is a Safeway in town and of course for your meats etc go to Costco if you have access.

Aloha

PS Go to the Rainbow Mall for the Shave Ice.

Thanks! We will be at the Hale Kamaole, and we%26#39;ll def. try the ice cream place.

BTW, the owner has asked for the balance 2 months prior to our arrival - is this usual?

here is a great unit at Hale Kamaole
