Beachfront house wanted for 2 weeks in July

Can anyone recommend a nice beachfront property anywhere on Oahu where there is midsize surf and/or good snorkelling? We need 2 bedrooms for family of 2 adults and 11 year old child (king size bed would be a bonus in the master bedroom) and will pay up to approx. $2,200 per week. Not really interested in a condo complex. I%26#39;ve looked on VRBO and vacationrentals.com, waiting for replies from owners but recommendations are always better! So far, Hauula looks good but are there any waves there in July? We will rent a car for the entire holiday and this is our second trip to Oahu. We stayed in Waikiki last year but want to experience an uncrowded beach holiday this time. It is important to us that the house be literally right on the beach!

Many thanks.

You wont really find snorkeling and surf in the same place. Tough to snorkel with waves and surfboards, right?

North Shore doesn%26#39;t have much surf in the summer, Hauula can be good snorkeling, I donm%26#39;t believe much surfing.

Why not look on other islands. All of them have beachfront houses for rent.

However, I agree with the comment that moderate surfing and good snorkeling are not often found together on the same beach.

Many thanks Kailuamom and PareoB. Sorry, I sort of rushed my post last night and agree that the snorkelling/surf idea doesn%26#39;t read too well! We would like to be somewhere relatively close to good snorkelling as we%26#39;ll have a car but our son loves to boogie board in moderate waves. Ideally, a nice beach with moderate waves on our doorstep with snorkelling a 10 minute drive away (high expectations but we loved Hawaii so much last year we just want the best of both worlds).

We%26#39;ve just come back from a fantastic but very busy trip to the US mainland so we are looking to chill out and do just a couple of days of shopping in Waikiki in July (we always need to shop for clothes/health foods/toys to bring back here). I%26#39;ve looked briefly at Maui but we%26#39;d prefer to take minimal flights (we had 8 flights during our US trip) and we need a good shopping mall such as the Moana Mall. We%26#39;d prefer to stay in one place and use a car. This will be the first time we%26#39;ve ever gone back to the same location twice but I guess we could be persuaded to try another island if location and housing choice is better and if reasonable shopping is available (also need a good optometrist for eye tests/contact lenses).

Yaou should be fine with boogieboarding - very differnt than a surfing beach! Each home will be differnt though, ask if they have a boogie boardable beach. The general area will be fine for snorkeling.

Oahu is where you need to go for your shopping and other needs. I think you will be just fine on the North Shore.

Thanks again, Kailuamom, I think we%26#39;ll feel most comfortable on Oahu. We drove around the island twice last year and loved it all so there are many places we%26#39;d like to revisit. We went in April last year so the weather and beach condition will probably be a little different and add to the variety of experiences.

Several of the houses advertised are already booked so any recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.
