Construction next Ekahi Village due to Renaissance...

This will be our first time to Hawaii and we have booked a condo for April 2006 in Ekahi Village. I understand that renovations will be in process at the Renaissance during that time. A map of Wailea shows the two resorts next to each other so, I am wondering about the impact of construction noise during our two week stay. Your expert thoughts on this...many thanks in advance!

There is actually some house (very large) in between Ekahi Village and the Renaissance you%26#39;ll be fine. There was however, homes being built there when we were there last spring but we didn%26#39;t have all that much noise.

Thanks Hula40...we are staying in Bldg 5 which seemed to border the Renaissance property. I am glad you answered this post...you seem to be extremely knowledgeable about Ekahi Village and your inputs were very helpful to us in deciding upon a condo. We booked thru MauiCondoOwners... who you also seem to use. They have some wonderful upgraded properties

What unit? we stay in 5B. We love it!!!!

Oops more to add, it doesn%26#39;t border the Renaissance property, there is a large multi million dollar housing developement in between.

We will be staying in 5E...it is on the second floor just above 5B I believe. How have you found that building to be re:location...view...privacy?

I am surprised that Maui Revealed gives this complex such a tepid review especially with regard to the building/grounds. The TripAdvisor reviews and others seems to agree that the grounds are very lush and immaculate even if the people were unhappy with their particular unit. After seeing pictures at the owners website for 5E...we are very comfortable with the condo interiors/condition.

Any other tips that you or anyone else has about Ekahi would be most welcome!

Lilly, I don%26#39;t know where the reviews in Maui revealed came from on this one. We stayed at Elua Village once and found it to be just adequite and very expensive, I was apprehensive about Ekahi because of their review. I am really picky so I grilled the poor owner before we rented it, now we talk and trade information (we own our own unit in Kihei). Now I know not all the reviews are on target.

We just started staying at Sugar Beach last Fall and love it, and it does not get glowing reviews. We found it to be very nice with a great beach and the units are oceanfront, as close as you can get for only $140.00 a night. In fact we probably wont stay in Wailea anymore because of it. If we can be right on the beach, for $80.00 less a night (that pays for dinner out) why not? You cant get that close to the water in Wailea.

Anyway, bldg 5 is very quiet, close to the lower pool. The grounds are beautiful. We really loved 5B and stayed also in building 6 in which we had a better view. It%26#39;s a great place to stay. You will have a great time and the beach path is a great walk at night, also Ulua Beach in front of Elua Village is a really great snorkeling beach.

Post if you have any other questions.

Thanks for your help Hula! We will check out Sugar Beach when we are there in April. It does look very nice.

I have to admit the grounds are not as lush as Wailea but for the price you cant beat it and I like to be ocean front. Enjoy your vacation and don%26#39;t worry about the construction. By the way the houses that they are bldg. next the Ekahi Village start at over ten million dollars!

We will soon be honeymooning in Wailea at Ekahi Village 5E. The pictures looked just incredible - interior decorating very tasteful and inviting! We were just recently informed that - due to new construction - some of our view may be taken away (but that the view is wide and we shouldn%26#39;t miss much) and that the noise hasn%26#39;t been much of a concern from those who%26#39;ve recently stayed there. We hope to find all of this to be true during our stay, as we plan to enjoy some time out and about, but some quiet time relaxing on the lanai, as well. I%26#39;ll post again when we%26#39;ve experienced all Maui has to offer :)
