Whales and baby seal and sun!

Saw whales swimming north early this morning from Kealia Beach - just spouts and backs, but neat. Last night we watched a baby seal (seal lady volunteer told us she%26#39;s 5 months old - she remembered exactly when she%26#39;d been born and was tagged...seal, not seal lady!) in front of Koa Kea - watched her cover her face with her flipper, roll on her back and yawn and then scoot off into the water...a treat - weather has been cooler than normal, but sunny and beautiful north and south; don%26#39;t hink we%26#39;ve ever seen the water so gorgeous.

Thanks, sigh. Enjoy.

We were jsut a poipu beach park day before yesterday to bbq.

A monk seal was all happy in dreamland, and the visitors were taking photos, honoring the roped off distance.

Well, monk seal number two, about the same size ( big) lumbers up on the sand, and wants the exact same hunk of sand # 1 was sleeping on.

It came down to wide open mouths, a light bight, and # 2 monker decided that it was just as comfortable and less hassel about 8 feet away from

#1.

Oh, also there was a sailing vessel, ripping along in the trades off shore...low freeboard...and hauling.

About the same time as the monk seals were discussing bedrooms, looked like a shroud or stay parted, and down came the mast and mainsail.

The vessel was drifting with the winds, and the poipu lifeguards, zipped out with their jet ski,and towed them in toward about kiahuna/waiohai beach area.
