Making reservations in advance for Luau

Should we make reservations before we actually get to the island for the Luau at Paradise Cove? We will be arriving on 5/17 and did not know if we could wait until we get to Oahu to book the luau.

Also, is it easier just to do the shuttle they provide to the Luau from the Hyatt or should we drive there if we have a rental car that day?

Thanks so much for all the information I have received on this forum.......I am constantly posting and asking questions!

Making reservations in advance for Luau

luvbeaches79 ... it is easier to do the shuttle to the luau. Leave the afternoon driving in traffic to the bus-tour driver and relax after the luau as you drive back to Waikiki.

Another option is if you do a circle island drive, you could also do the Paradise Cove Luau on your way back to Waikiki.

Timing your drive to be at Paradise Cove around 5 pm, drive around the island at your pace, do and stop where you want to stop without worrying about the time. The tour busses start departing for the luau approx. 4 pm., all arriving before 6 pm.

Let Dole Plantation be your last stop before the luau, the latest you can depart from Dole Plantation will be 415 pm for the drive to Ko-Olina (West Beach). This will get you there before the busses arrive.

From Dole Plantation, turn left on to Kamehameha Hwy #99 and continue your short drive to the ';Y'; intersection, stay to your right that will begin Kamananui Road #99 that will take you to Schofield Barracks. At the ';T'; intersection, turn left on to Wilikina Drive and continue your drive pass Schofield Barracks on your right. At the next stop light, you will make a right turn on to Kunia Road #750 that will take you through a plantation road to Royal Kunia %26amp; Waipahu.

As you approach the H-1 freeway on Kunia Road, take a right on to the H-1 and continue until you see the signs for Ko-Olina Resort. Follow the sign until you get to the security booth. In front of you, you will see a parking lot with Paradise Cove in a short distance.

Have fun, enjoy the good sunset and have fun!

You should and can wait till you get to Honolulu to book your luau. Given the ecomany when I was there in Feb for pro Bowl prices had dropped but had not shown as such online. Luau prices were as low as $15.00 per person depending on witch one you booked. Check with your hotel on current prices/ deals when you get in.
