My husband and I are planning 4 nice dinner reservations while we are on the island in May. We want your opinions! We are curious to see what restaurants are the 4 top restaurants on the island, to make sure we aren%26#39;t missing out on any great dining. Location is not an issue, as we will be staying in West and South Maui.
Thanks!

Best 4 Fine Dining Restaurants on Maui
If you are looking for $$$$, Merriman%26#39;s at Kapulua, Mama%26#39;s Fish House, Sarento%26#39;s. If you are looking for good food and an enjoyable experience with a view: Leilani%26#39;s upstairs at Kaanapali, Hula Grill barefoot bar at Kaanapali, Kimo%26#39;s in Lahaina, the Plantation House at Kapalua, The Sea House and Gazebo (breakfat) at Napili Bay. Fine dining to me equates with expensive.
Go to Merriman%26#39;s at Kapalua about 45-60 min before sunset. Enjoy sunset on outside deck with specialty drink. Be blown away. Then have dinner there. Awesome.
Waterfront - Maalaea
Seahouse - Napili
Gerrards - Lahaina
Cafe O Lei - where ever they are now
Foodies-We really enjoyed the Waterfront. If you go get a reservation right before sunset-beautiful view. You can check out their menu- http://www.waterfrontrestaurant.net/ They have all kinds of fresh fish and many ways to prepare it.
Jimgloria-Where did Cafe O%26#39; lei go? It was one of our favorite places for a late lunch.
Here%26#39;s my top 4 and not nessarily in that order
1.Plantation house at Kapula-beautiful sunset view and great atomsphere.
2.Hula Grill
3.IO
4.No 5 star atomsphere here but awsome food-Paia fish Market
Of our several visits to Maui - the service and food at the Waterfront in Maalaea was the WORST.
All of the restaurants mentioned by the other posts are good choices. Our personal favorites are Leilani%26#39;s upstairs and Sea House.
That%26#39;s too bad BLBL, because they were so attentive to us. My drink was never under a half empty and they checked on us regularly. Maybe it was a bad night.
It was Valentine%26#39;s day and the place was half empty. Also, I was surprised at the decor. Looks like a 1950%26#39;s steakhouse inside. Overall, we had nothing good to say except that we liked the crabcakes and we got lucky with a parking place.
Our top 4 -
1) Merriman%26#39;s Kapalua
2) Mama%26#39;s Fish House
3) Roy%26#39;s
4) Nick%26#39;s Fishmarket Kea Lani
