We found this Maui Forum very useful in planning our Maui vacation, so here%26#39;s some information from our time there.
We stayed at Ekahi 17F in Wailea, in early October. It was amazing: the condo is beautifully and comfortably furnished, and we absolutely loved having coffee or dinner on the patio and watching the ocean at all times of the day. The grounds are immaculate, and the property is in general very quiet and relaxing. We also loved being able to walk down to Keawakapu beach about 5 minutes away, and swim or relax in the sun. We took a few walks down into Wailea (past all the mega-hotels: The Four Seasons, The Grand Wailea, etc.) which looked crowded, impersonal, and far more expensive and unpleasant. We would not hesitate to recommend this Ekahi condo to anyone, and stay here again in the future.
Hope this helps,
Razvan.
Maui recommendation: Ekahi 17F
Thanks for the info. We love Ekahi Village.
We%26#39;ve stayed at 6 or 7 (lost count) different condos there over the past 18 years. Never in 17F. Curious who you rented from or booked through?
Maui recommendation: Ekahi 17F
Glad to hear you found it useful. We rented it through http://www.vacationinwailea.com/
We stayed at Ekahi 17F on Sept. 2008. When we arrived, condo was filty
dirty, bed was not made, towels everywhere. We had to call the owner and complain.
Cleaning lady finally came in and clean the unit, but it was not fun to arrive at
dirty, dusty condo. The next morning, my husband got bitten by centipedes in the bed. We
wound up going to emergency room. After reporting to the owner, the owner and manager
tried to find that centipede, but ended up spraying the condo with heavy pesticides. The
chemical was really strong and I got severe headache.
We were told to get reimbursed if we move out. However, it was really a hectic to find
another place to stay after arriving there. We were
there for a wedding and wasting time to find a place to stay. No fun at all.
I wish we had found a place that would made us be more comfortable through out the entire
trip. For our inconvenience we had to move out, and we were still charged for a cleaning
fee. No medical expense reimbursed even though we became a victim of the bug in the condo.
We were there on September 08. Reserved the unit for 8 days. When arrived, it was very dusty, not cleaned, towels everywhere, bed not made. Apparently, the owner wasn%26#39;t interested in keeping it clean. We had to complain about getting into the dirty condo. It didn%26#39;t help that my hubby got bitten by a centipede in a bed in the very first morning. We had to go to emergency room, paying for all the expenses. The owner had the unit sprayed with strong chemical, which gave me severe headache after leaving the windows open for more than 5 hours. We ended up looking for another place to stay. Not easy as we need a place urgently. All the near by hotel were sold out except a grand suite for over $1000 a night.
If the unit had kept it clean, the bug wouldn%26#39;t have been there. We finally got reimbursed for the nights we weren%26#39;t there (after more than two weeks), but still charged for a cleaning fee. It wasn%26#39;t our fault that we had to move out. I wanted to have the owner reimburse the entire trip as we ruined a part of our wedding trip for this incident.
No reimbursement on emergency room visit. Stay here at your own risk.
Interesting that both posters with knoweledge of the unit have only posted here twice.
Yeah, I thought that was quite interesting, too. Particularly since I%26#39;m in 16E as I write this and have been for several days.
Lucky! We always stay at Ekahi - It is my favorite place! How is everything in your condo?
It is interesting that they only posted twice. We always stay at Elua Village in an ocean front condo at the end of June begining July and walked that path to the other resorts and never felt they were crowded or impersonal, people there look like they were haveing a great time. Funny too that with the slow economy that the resorts were crowded, when we where there it was not and reading the other Maui post the same thing was mentioned that it was less crowded.
We just left this unit and it was beautifully remodeled and of the highest quality. The view from the kitchen window of Molokini was stunning.
When we arrived we found the unit in imaculate condition complete with a bottle of wine and chocolates to help us celebrate our anniversary. A nice touch after such a long flight.
The king sized canopy bed was both romantic and comfy. We had many barbeque dinners and enjoyed entertaining out on the patio while sipping on Mai Tais and watching the sunsets. We couldn%26#39;t have asked for anything more.
The owners really took the time to make sure we were comfortable and even gave us ideas for where to eat and what activities might interest us. Shirlene even went so far as to assist us with golf discounts on Wailea green fees which made it easier on our pocket book.
If you love golf you%26#39;ve got to play the Wailea courses. You can%26#39;t beat those views.
If you book these people you%26#39;ll be very happy.
Susan
And the saga of one/two post wonders continue ............
