expedia 24-hour sale

I am seeing this apparently amazing deal on Expedia.

9 days Hapuna Prince (Partial Ocean View) (July 3-12)

9 days Budget mid-size SUV

TOTAL = 1482 (that%26#39;s just 164/day including car + all taxes/fees)

Upgrade to Ocean View is additional 12.75/day (so less than 1600 total), Premium Ocean View is 1750 total. This is only available if you book car + hotel (hotel-only is 279/night for the lowest price room). (Its %26lt; 1400 total with a full-sized car rather than an SUV !!).

I had planned on moving around (3 days Kohala, 2 Hilo, 4 Kona) - but at this rate for the Hapuna Prince - including car - I am tempted.

What do you think - book now or wait ?????

expedia 24-hour sale

That is a hell of a good deal, I wouldn%26#39;t wait with the booking!

Agreed. We love the Hapuna Prince. Even if you wanted to spend a night in Volcano or somewhere else you could just double book that night and likely still save a lot of money.

I can even do 5 days Hapuna, 4 days Sheraton at very similar price (it will be two separate bookings on Expedia, but I am hoping I will be able to call the car agency and skip the return-pickup in the middle; worst case stop at the airport on the drive down from Kohala to Kona).

And this will give us the beach (Hapuna) and the pool (Sheraton) (which the kids will love).

And thanks for the double-book VNP for a night suggestion - then I can still do it all.

I had planned on Hilton on Kohala and a condo in Kona, but at these prices...

I have till midnight Pacific to book, so I am off to cook dinner / discuss with family / finalize plan...

Forget the Sheraton, we stayed there for a weekend three weeks ago. They really let that hotel go. You can get the same ';quality'; for much less at the Royal Kona Resort.

I couldn%26#39;t believe this deal either!! I just booked the Hapuna Prince for a trip in May flying out of SFO at this rate. We had been considering the Sheraton also, but some of the reviews really scared me off.

Do it! Stay at Hapuna the entire time, what a deal. You will love the hotel. I would upgrade to Oceanview, I think it would be worth the $$.

I might end up regreting this in a few days, but I have not booked it yet and I am leaning AGAINST. The Sheraton reviews have scared me off as well, and I am not sure Hapuna for 9 days will work with kids. Is the hotel ';too toney'; and ';too quiet'; for a 9-day stay with kids (13 %26amp; 10) ? I know their pool has no slide, and Frommer%26#39;s says ';people dress up at the Hapuna - you may not be comfortable in t-shirt and flip-flops';. I am a t-shirt and flip-flop type...

Anybody with quick comments about this ? I haven%26#39;t booked the deal yet (got busy with a long call to my off-shore team which just ended). Expedia is still offering the deal even though it is now past mid-night Pacific, but I have cold feet about this right now. Undecided, leaning AGAINST right now. Hmmmmmm...

Wow, I would do it if I could take the time! The Prince is older, and the rooms are showing their age. But they are large and clean, and the beach is among the best on the island. Only you know your kids and travel preferences, but I would pick one resort and move in. The kids will feel comfortable and at home and figure out where they like to hang out, beach or pool. I%26#39;m not entirely sure about the ';dress up'; thing. Every time I%26#39;ve been there there have been quite a few guests from Japan, and a lot of families with kids, especially at the beach and I didn%26#39;t see anyone dressed up except for dinner at the restaurant.

Ashta,

Don%26#39;t worry about Hapuna being ';too toney';. That may be what they were going for when they built the place but that is in no way is the reality we experienced on our 2 visits. Except for going to dinner we spent our entire time in bathing suits and flip flops - and so did most of the other guest we observed.

It is quiet though. We don%26#39;t have kids so I wasn%26#39;t paying close attention but there didn%26#39;t seem to be a whole lot of activities geared for kids. I believe the Mauna Kea next door had a kids program before they closed so maybe that is back again?

Even if you miss this deal I expect you%26#39;ll continue to see them the way the ecomomy is so you%26#39;re better off not panicing and making the right decision. Good luck and let us know what you decide!

Was that rate per person? I just checked out expedia for that deal for nine days and it was 1450 per person for the Hapuna and rental car. Not sure why they would charge per person for hotel and car though.
