Seeking Oahu Advice - but not travel related

Hello,

TripAdvisor forums are so wonderful when planning vacations I was hoping the great destination experts could assist us in a different manner.

We are considering relocating to Oahu for a job transfer, but I do not know anything about Hawaii. Is there a destination expert I could contact for general information about the island? (Proximity to things, getting around, different areas, safety, cost of living, etc.)

We would greatly appreciate it! We don%26#39;t know where to turn for this kind of assistance.

(If it makes a difference, we%26#39;d be relocating from the east coast - US, have family on the east coast, have no children, and only one of us would have a job; the other would be job-seeking).
