beaches in/near Wailea

My fiance and I are going to Maui for our honeymoon this October. We are staying in a condo at the Wailea Ekolu Village. I%26#39;ve heard that this place is close enough to the beaches to walk, but we will probably drive since we will want to bring food, chairs, and snorkeling or swimming gear to the beaches.

So my question is what beaches should we go to that are close to our condo and good for swimming/snorkeling? Which of these have free parking lots that are unlikely to fill up? We are not early risers, so is this going to be a problem? If we have to get up early to get a parking spot we will, but would rather not have to do that! So what beach is our best bet?

And how do we know where to park at the beaches? It seems to me that a beach like Wailea would be rather large and could have many areas where there would be parking. Is there a website/map that shows where the beach parking lots are located?

Thanks!

Congratulations on your up coming marriage. You have picked a beautiful area for your stay.

vthawaii will show a view of the South Maui beaches.

All the beaches have free parking. In Oct there will be less visitors so easier to park. With the time difference you will be waking up earlier. Snorkeling is best 8 -11 after that water can get choppy and rough.

Maps will show beaches and parking is easy to spot.

Within two miles left on Wailea Alanui Dr or right on Kiehi Rd you will have 10 great beaches.

Snorkel spots...

Maui Beach Guide is not comprehensive, but it will give you a good start.

Wailea Ekolu Village fronts a rocky shoreline, but there is a boardwalk along the shore which will link you to Ulua Beach to your North and Wailea Beach to your South. Ulua Beach is a good beginner%26#39;s beach for both swim and snorkel with a nice little coral reef and plenty of fish (sometimes turtles). Wailea Point is the rocky point of land at the South end of Wailea Beach. It doesn%26#39;t have as much coral cover, but it has a similiar bio-diversity of fish, and turtles.

Ulua Beach has very limited parking, but Wailea Beach has a big overflow parking lot. Again, where you are staying, it is a short walk to either beach.

My mistake - ';W Ekolu isn%26#39;t on the water. It%26#39;s across the street among the golf course';
