If you want beach and Waikoloa then it is the Marriott though you can walk from the Hilton to A-bay in front of the Marriott.

Thanks. I%26#39;m not sure where to stay on the big Isalnd with 2 teens I just thought the Waikoloa area might be the best. We are thinking of also going to Maui

Well, the Marriott would be the only hotel with a beach right outside. But, there are plenty of condos in the area. These might be a better fit - with more room to spread out and a full kitchen, than a hotel. Look under specialty lodging on the hotel page of tripadvisor.

We took our 14 year old boy to the Waikoloa area and it was great. We%26#39;ve been taking him there most of his life, so it%26#39;s great for any age. We rented a condo in the Fairway Villas and it%26#39;s walking distance to the beach. There were other teens on the beach and they played football and catch in the water together. The waves down the road at Hapuna Beach were awesome for boogie boarding and he loved that. Renting a condo is really great way to go. The Fairway Villas were a fabulous deal. Great location and lots of space for a family and you can%26#39;t beat the price.

Dear Wintermix:

If your teens are happy w/ great beaches then Waikoloa%26#39;s a good central spot. Yep def. pick a spot they can walk to da beach while you are relaxing. Just give them the lecture about knowing when to get out of the water (like waves too big or rip currents) and of course plenty of sun screen the first couple of days out so your not gonna get some lobster red teens.

Great day trips from there as far north as Pololu Valley as far south as Captain Cook and Place of Refuge and as far east as Waipio Valley overlook.

If you are thinking about touring Volcano put two nights into the middle of you trip down there.

Aloha, TheodoreJay

I think the Hilton should be considered because of the pools, salt-water lagoon and other activities for kids that age. They have complimentary shuttle service to Anaeho%26#39;omalu Bay, so you would not have to drive.

Regarding Hilton Wikoloa; keep in mind that the pool is not heated so it is very chilly in the winter time.

My three teenagers would vote for the Hilton. They love the place and there%26#39;s plenty of space for them to walk around and get away from the parents. Also a very safe area, very little crime in Waikoloa.
