Can anyone recommend a restaurant with mildly spiced dishes?

Staying in Honolulu with my mother during Valentines Day and want to take her out for dinner. Does anyone know a restaurant that serves dishes that are on the mild side without a lot of sauces or spices? My mother has health issues that require a more bland diet. Thank you for any suggestions! :)

Hi Buffalo!

Why don%26#39;t you try the Shorebird Beach Broiler Restaurant in the Outrigger Hotel right near the Beachwalk in the middle Waikiki. They give you the food uncooked and you bar-b-que it yourself so you can control the amount of spice you put on it. The entree comes with a salad bar and I think there were many bland choices on that too like potato salad.

There is a coupon for buy one entree/get one 1/2 price in all of the coupon magazines available on Kalakaua Avenue and at the airport. Have fun!!

Ocean House (next to Shorebird in the Outrigger Reef) has lots of choices. It%26#39;s a nice restaurant (a bit expensive) with a fantastic view, but you order dishes separately... grilled fish, side of vegetables, etc.

Hy%26#39;s Steak House also had an ala carte menu where you could get simple grilled steak, seafood, etc. separately.

Really typical %26#39;hawaiian%26#39; food is simply not all that spicy generally speaking, it should not be a problem imo.

Thanks Sleep7 and Suze2you, those are great suggestions! I%26#39;ll check out their web sites to see what dishes they have that my Mother can eat. :)

Most restaurants will prepare dishes to suit your special needs upon request. My father-in-law had a strict diet following surgery and it was no problem finding places that would accommodate him.

Thank you Localmoco, my mother has very specific items she can eat such as turkey, chicken and some beef, NO PORK. She also can not have nuts, seeds, spices or many sauces. You can see how difficult it is finding a restaurant whos menu meets these requirements.

P.S. She isn%26#39;t a big fan of fish either. :(
