One week, two locations?

Any advice on splitting up the week, half in the south, half in the north? Good idea? or too much trouble?

One week, two locations?

Our first trip to Kauai in the 80s, we split up our week, because we stayed at the Coco Palms for 3 days (all we could afford) and 4 days on Poipu Beach. Both hotels are now gone due to Hurricane Iniki 1992.

It%26#39;s possible, but I wouldn%26#39;t do it again that way, too much trouble. You loose one full day packing and moving out. Have to check out by 11am and often can%26#39;t check in until 4 PM, even though a place will hold your luggage at the front desk.

One week, two locations?

Thanks CANative, - hadn%26#39;t thought of that. We don%26#39;t want to lose any days. Which do you prefer, north or south? keeping in mind that we will be going probably late may.

Unless you are on the island for more time, I would suggest staying put. You will loose a lot of one whole day packing and moving not to mention the additional cleaning fees and deposits of two locations.

fava%26amp;bean, LOL, I like Poipu Beach, the Hyatt, it%26#39;s warm and sunny weather, and great choice of restaurants. Ask someone else and they will say east shore or north shore as well. We all haver our reasons. The island is small enough to make driving around possible.

I guess I don%26#39;t see you losing a whole day to move locations. 1/2 hr to pack, 1/2hr to unpack. Bit of time at front desks. In the meantime, you%26#39;re out doing what you%26#39;d do anyway unless you are afraid to leave clothes in a car while sightseeing/shopping/having lunch.

That said, splitting locations for a week does seem a bit too much trouble unless you plan to spend 3 of those days trekking to the northshore from Poipu or vice versa. Then you can consider the time cost of 1.5-2 hr trips each way as an offset to packing time.

There are no free lunches.

With just one week stay put. Over a week split your stay. Depending on when you plan on coming will dictate where you should be staying on the island. If May-Oct stay North.

Driving time to Lihue is 45 mins-1 hour.

moving accomodations is a pain. Just pick one location. Definately too much trouble.

Agree with everyone. NOt worth it. Besides the time of packing up, unpacking, checking out, checking in, you also have the time it takes to just familiarize yourself with the local digs. Where to go for this and that, etc.

For only one week I think you%26#39;re spenidng more time doing all that than you would spend in the drive to head to the opposite side of the island for sightseeing.
