driving time

We%26#39;ll be in Kauai 4-5 days and wonder if on the East shore how long is the drive to Kokee State Park Lodge? Would you suggest staying closer if we plan to go more than one day?

Kapa`a to Koke`e Lodge under usual circumstances, will take about 1-1/2 hours. If your return trip is near 4-5pm, add at least another 30 minutes to the drive.

I always get nervous when folks start asking for driving times. I see folks hurrying to places to say they have been there and not enjoying the ride. Relax and stop and look at things and take pictures and be tourists. If you have to be there at a certain time, always give yourself more time than you think you need because there low speed limits and two lane roads.

We definitely enjoy the journey, stop for ice cream views etc. We needed to know if we should plan 2 or 3 hours... Had no idea how much time to allow. Vacation and hurry should not mix!

Thank you for the approximation. We will leave extra time for the sites on the way. If we stay for the sunset is it a problem driving in the dark?

It does get very dark on Kauai and I prefer to be at our condo before dark. But then I am not a night driver.

A little advice and it%26#39;s not about driving, but I would try and get up around 1 or 2 am and take a look outside and just look at the stars in the sky! It%26#39;s like heaven, as if you can almost reach out and touch the stars!

I%26#39;ve noticed that I%26#39;ve not found one brochure/free magazine yet that estimates driving time at all between towns. Just know that most of the roads that I%26#39;ve been on so far are 25 mph...of course there%26#39;s places it%26#39;s higher, but even with the island being small, if you%26#39;re dealing with 25mph, you don%26#39;t get far very fast...
