We are arriving in Waikiki April 16th and are spending a couple of days before heading over to Maui.
Any suggestions on good bars/restaurants to have a drink and/or dinner. We plan on going to Pearl Harbour (my husband is a history buff) and maybe a tour of the Island to see cliff jumpers. Going with my 83 year old (very young at heart) mother.
We are staying at the Waikiki Banyan.
many thanks for your tips
Best spot to have drink and view of Waikiki beach
One of our favorite places to sit, relax, have a drink is the Banyan Court (outside by the beach) at the Sheraton Moana Surfrider.

No more cliff divers on Oahu that I know of. Used to be at Waimea Falls Park, but they closed. Now reopened as a botanical garden. Waimea Valley Audubon Center.
Royal Hawaiian Hotel has a nice view from Mai Tai Bar.

Duke%26#39;s.
Sunset Terrace at Halekulani Hotel. Excellent appetizers and drinks, classic Hawiian musicians, and hula performed by one of two wonderful dancers, each a former Miss Hawaii. Probably more to your mother%26#39;s taste than Duke%26#39;s (but that%26#39;s mighty good too!)
To all the replies - THANKS!
I am sooooooo excited about going to Hawaii! It is raining cats %26amp; dogs here in Vancouver this morning so the sun in Hawaii is definetly calling my name!
Go to the Hale Koa, next to the HHV. Anyone can have a drink at the Beachside bar. There is a fence, but just walk in through the path. Drinks are relatively inexpensive if you are down that way.
Go to Pink Hotel, Royal Hawaian for a drink at sunset at bar on beach a must if you visit Honol. Also there is a trolley tour of downtown, well worth it.
Re the trolley tour. Is there a particular one that is better - I read one review that said it took them from one shopping centre to another. My husband is wanting to see ';old'; Honolulu. Which line would that be? and he doesn%26#39;t like to shop!
thanks again?
Also, do you know what impact the recent no smoking laws have? Can you still smoke on the outside patios?
These are all great spots, although waikiki takes its share of jabs, it is still the most scenic view in hawaii. The way the bay arches towards diamonhead and with the waves breaking everywhere it is a magnificent site. My personal favorite is to get an early morning coffee and danish at the honolulu coffee company at the moana and then take it out under the banyan tree at the beach bar. With the sun at your back the ocean colors really stand out.
Aloha. Since you are staying at the Banyan (where we ALWAYS stay!) I would recommend Tiki%26#39;s for a drink on the patio and view of the ocean. It is simply about 1 and 1/2 blocks from the Banyan. All of the places mentioned above are about a 10-15 minute walk Ewa (easterly)...with no browsing! No need to wear a silk dress to Tiki%26#39;s as another person posted earlier.
You can also try LuLu%26#39;s (can%26#39;t remember the name) but it is one block west of Tiki%26#39;s, it is a very casual sit up bar with views of the beach.
The other places mentioned previously are a must see! But I would go to Tiki%26#39;s for a break from the condo and just a short walk away.
The catameran ride by Duke%26#39;s is a fun ride about 1 hr. at $20 per person with Mai Tai%26#39;s and beers on board @ extremely reasonable prices. Take a camera!
Since you are only there a few days, I would try to get to Duke%26#39;s, the Royal Hawaiian, the catameran (mid day) and Tiki%26#39;s.
Your sightseeing day will end early as it gets dark about 5:30, try to get your ';activities'; done before then so you can ';hang loose.';
