First Time Help!

Hi everyone.. my husband and I are going to Hawaii in May for our 1 year anniversary. We are staying with my brother in law because he is stationed there in the military. I have a few questions that I can%26#39;t seem to find the answer to anywhere else. I know that the big surf season is in the winter months, but i was wondering if i will get to see any good surf competitions or watch some good surfers in May. If so, is there any particular beach to go to and see some good surfing. This may be a lame question, but my husband and I would love to see it. We are both 24, so can you recommend any good nightlife on the island as well? Also, this may be a stupid question but will my cell phone work in Hawaii since its not international? Thanks for any help!

As far as your cellphone Oahu is like most other places in that there are areas where you may not get a signal.

There won%26#39;t be any surf competition on the North Shore.

In the summer, the south %26amp; east shores get more surf than the North Shore.

There may be a surf competition in May on or near Waikiki Beaches. But I think those are in June or July. Waikiki, Diamond Head %26amp; Ala Moana Beaches will be the best place to watch surfing in the summer.
