I have looked at many of the hotels and we are looking for something on the beach, preferably oceanview or oceanfront but are not lookikng to spend more that $350 per night. In addition we like a lanai and a bigger room. I am torn between the Moana Surfrider, Sheraton Waikiki, Outrigger Waikiki and Outrigger Reef. Actually the front runners now are the Outrigger Reef and Moana Surfrider.
Any input is appreciated.
Going In May - Where should we stay
If you go with the Moana Surfrider ... get a TOWER room. They are very spacious -- and the rooms in the older areas are not. Also consider the Hyatt. It is across the street from the beach with an unobstructed view. Look for AA rates everywhere.
Going In May - Where should we stay
We could not afford to stay there, but walking through and dining near the Banyan Tree, I thought the Moana Surfrider was the most beautiful and classy hotel I have ever seen. Elegant!
I would choose Outrigger Reef. They have (or shortly will have) completed a full renovation.
We are going in May as well and staying at the Moana. We have stayed in the Outrigger Waikiki as well as several other hotels over the years.
All other things being equal (price, view, etc.) our first pick has been the Outrigger Waikiki or the Moana.
We choose the Outrigger Waikiki over the Outrigger Reef (although we go down there each trip to eat at Shorebird%26#39;s at least once) is the location. Reef is just a little off of the ';main'; part of Waikiki Beach and we like to hang out at the Banyan Bar at Moana and Dukes at Outrigger. It is also a little closer to the high activity areas on Kalakua Ave. for shopping, restaurants, etc.
The Reef is located very near the new Waikiki Beachwalk which is a great location as well.
I would say you can not go wrong with any of those 3 and would just decide what location you want to be in and where you can get the best price deal.
Is this your first trip to Waikiki or are you familiar with the landscape? If you have been before then you know what area you want to stay in, if not, you might want to get a more detailed input on just what is located where.
Enjoy your trip!
