Please help with condo recommendation for two nights (Kona)

My wife and I have been to the Big Island on numerous occasions and always have stayed up on the Kohala Coast (Fairway Villas at Waikoloa, Mauna Lani, etc.). This time, we were hoping that we could find a newer condo within walking distance of downtown Kona (this May) for two nights before we join friends of ours at a condo up in Waikoloa. Or budget is $150 up to about $250/night. We definitely want oceanfront or a good ocean view. I%26#39;ve been researching on this site and have been having trouble finding anything (a lot of the condos seem to have at least 3 night minimums). Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help.

There is nothing ';newer'; and all the condos are at least 20+ years old in that area. Alii Cove would be the ony exception but vacation rental is not allowed there. You either need to go further South or settle for an old condo.

You will run into that 3 night minimum no matter what complex you go with, unless they happen to have a condo that has only the 2 night stay available between other bookings. You can find renovated/remodeled condos in a well maintained oceanfront complexes. You should consider the Royal Kona Resort.

I second the Royal Kona. We have stayed there over the past 15 years for 1-2 nights before heading up to the Kohala Area. I see by their site they may have upgraded some rooms? My parents loved the Royal Kona and then would head up to Mauna Kea or Four Seasons. Right on the water and walk to restaurants. Sometimes you can park for free on the street.

aloha,

Susan

Thank you all for your responses. I will check out the Royal Kona. If I was to go farther south, what would be a few options that would fit our criteria?

Kona by The Sea is a remodeled complex and all the units managed by the onsite management company conform to a higher standard. All units are ocean front.

Kona Coast Resort (Phase II) is a time share place and all the units are upgraded. Neither of them have a minimum stay requirement.

Thank you for all of your help. I guess what we are looking for is a nice condo, doesn%26#39;t have to be new. In regards to Kona by the Sea, are their any websites that enable you to choose the actual unit you stay in, rather than be stuck with what Resortquest gives you? Any other recommendations would be appreciated, even in the Keauhou area. Thanks again.

I guess you will have to do your own research, but stay away from units ending with 15, 16, 17 and 18 at the KBTS.
