Where would you all recommend staying when you are traveling with adult children 20-23. There would be a total of 6 of us. We would like to all stay together, but not sure what hotels can offer that? Suggestions are greatly appreciated. We are looking at late July.
Thanks
Traveling with Adult Children
This is EXACTLY what we are doing at the end of this month!!!!!!
WE CAN HARDLY WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It took me AGES to work out what would work for us.
For ALL of us!
I looked at condos!
But that wasn%26#39;t what we wanted.
So, I knew that the Hyatt was right for us.
Well, what I REALLY wanted was the Waillea Beach Villas.
So, the Hyatt is what we could afford!
I origionally booked a room for the four of them, and a room for my husband and myself.
Then, I figured this is a %26#39;trip of a lifetime%26#39; and I truely want it to be special so I lashed out and booked three rooms in total.
It helped that the Hyatt is offering a fabulous deal of breakfast, every third night free and 25% off the rate because we are Hyatt members!
My advice is to do alot of research.
Book what you like.........keep checking to see if you can get a better rate and change it as this happens.
And it WILL happen!
I have changed my booking three times so far and have saved ALOT!!!!

jspeoplelover - this is a broad question that you have asked, so I will ask you:
1)do you have a set budget?
2)have you decided which area you want to stay in?
3)Are you focusing on hotel or condo?
Travelbug has given you some great advice!
Many of the hotels are offering some great specials and joining their membership programs is a very good idea. Whether to stay in a hotel vs a condo is a personal choice and everyone has varying preferences, but they are generally quite cost effective.
I forgot to add that no hotel will not allow six people in one room, fire codes and such - so a minimum of two rooms would be required. I do believe the Westin Kaanapali Villas offer a two bedroom unit with a sleeper sofa that might work -
As always Lesrose is right! We own at the Westin Villas, and our adult kids and their families rotate through our 2 weeks. They offer a 2 bedroom ';lock-off'; which is a one bedroom unit and a studio with connecting doors. They sleep 8. Just perfect for us, lots of room to spread out and the cooking facilities are a great help. Beautiful grounds, great beach with shuttles to Whaler%26#39;s Village and Lahaina. Starwood is running some killer deals right now. Good luck!
We have done exactly this - traveled with our 2 adult kids; their spouses; their 2 toddlers; plus our teenager. There were a total of 9 of us staying all together. We stayed at Wailea Beach Villas in a 3bd/3ba penthouse villa. The villa was spacious with plenty of private spaces to accomodate all of us. We loved it! The price seems high but it sure was more economical than us renting 3 rooms at a nice resort. We had breakfast in everyday; made lunch plus cooked dinner in a couple of nights. It was a terrific vacation for all of us. Would highly recommend.
Yeah, frenchfry dog, it saves a ton on food, we took turns cooking and the nightly poker tournies are a hoot. Playing with family is a riot! Mom still can bluff, the kids can%26#39;t! There are alot of options for you.
We stayed at the Kaanapali Alii recently with our 4 boys aged 16-22. It was a beautiful condo property, a great beach location with close proximity to all that Kaanapali has to offer. We had a 2 bedroom, 1,500 sq.ft. condo and it was perfect.
How much of that time do you expect to spend together? We took our adult kids to the beach and rented individual units for each family group with a larger unit for one of us to be the entertainment area, all in the same complex. It worked well. People can have a bit of privacy, sleep at different times, and still enjoy the proximity and time together as schedules mesh. Being in each other%26#39;s hip pockets for the entire trip... I just wouldn%26#39;t do it.
We have only done this (with 11 people-yikes) at All-Inclusives in Mexico, but I would certainly recommend condo units. Feeding 6 grownups 3 meals a day out plus drinks and snacks...well, it will cost a fortune! Besides, the family that cooks together....
Anyway, what I really wanted to recommend to you (not that you asked) was to book a zipline tour. We ALL loved it...especially adult twenties (although my husband and I are now converts and we haven%26#39;t seen 20 in quite awhile) It is something they won%26#39;t forget! Have a great family time.
