2nd trip to Maui-Best place to stay this time?

This will be our second trip tp Maui. Our first trip we stayed at The Westin Kanapali(sorry, not sure how to spell it)and really weren%26#39;t impressed although we loved the location. We are open to trying another area. Any suggestions?

Maybe you would like the Wailea in South Maui. Maybe you would like to try a condo or another hotel?

Could you provide us with more information regarding what you want? What was it that didn%26#39;t impress you or what you prefer to be different? Were you at the hotel or the villas?

As for suggestions the above info would help and so would budget.

We really liked the location of The Westin, but the staff overall was unattentive especially the front desk. We also disliked the tiny rooms with small lanai%26#39;s. Most of the rooms we were told had double beds as this was unfortunate to hear considering we were there for our anniversary.

Consider giving South Maui a try this time. The Wailea/Makena area is a bit more upscale, much more laid back and quiet. Lush tropical feel and some marvelous resort complexes and beaches there. Here%26#39;s a link that will show you nearly all of the hotel and condo complexes there. When you click on a property you will see an aerial photo with brief review, rack rate pricing (you should be able to do better), and a link to the properties web site.

Thank you, that sounds like a better option for us.

Westin -- we didn%26#39;t like it either.

But, we DO love that stretch of Ka%26#39;anapali and the Sheraton Maui. Large rooms, spacious grounds, great views. Very open-air. And unlike the Westin, it is quiet at night - no cross traffic because it%26#39;s snuggled in the rock. Snorkel right out front. Super pool, great food. Highly recommend. We just had our 8th stay last month.

If you like the Kaanapali stretch, I also suggest checking out the Sheraton. We really enjoyed our stay there.

If you want a condo unit, Papakea is right on the north end of that strip, but much less expensive. We had an ocean-front unit that was nicely appointed and spacious: http://www.vrbo.com/36070

As we walked along the beach, looking up at the big complexes, we were happy to be in a low-key setting w/great access and a great view.
