We%26#39;re staying at the Hawaii Prince in early February. We plan to spend a day circling the island, probably from around 9am to 4pm. From a traffic standpoint, would it be best to drive clockwise (west, then north) or counter-clockwise(east, then north)? Any other advice you can give about must-see stops along the way? What%26#39;s the best spot to watch the big wave surfers in action? Are the crowds pretty thick up there this time of year?
Thank you!
Circle Tour to North Shore and back - clockwise?
It is best to drive counter-clockwise. Most of the turns will be to the right in %26amp; out of the beaches.
Best beaches to see surfers on North Shore:
Sunset Beach, Ehukai Beach (Banzai Pipeline) %26amp; Waimea Bay.
Driving tour #2 on this thread includes North Shore.

You could combine driving tours 1 %26amp; 2, but start at 8am %26amp; don%26#39;t expect to get back before 5 or 6 pm. Driving back to Honolulu at that time is easy because the rush hour traffic will be going the opposite way.
