Hi all,
My husband and I will be visiting the island for 8 days in April, staying 5 days on the Kona side and 3 on the Hilo side near the volcano. I have been to Hawaii a few times before (about 17 years ago in my teens) and my husband has never been.
Current plans include seeing the volcano, visiting the petroglyphs, Pu%26#39;uhonua o Honaunau, and going on a dive trip (hopefully) with the manta rays.
Since it has been a long time since I%26#39;ve been to Hawaii, and my husband has never been I thought I might drag him to a luau since it%26#39;s sort of the obligatory tourist item for the islands. Is there a luau on the island that is recommended? Also, are there any other places on the island we should be sure to visit?
Kona Luau and other recommendations for AprilYou can see a ';touristy'; luau at every hotel. If you want an ';educational'; luau than go to the Kona Village Resort.
Kona Luau and other recommendations for AprilI second Kona Village Resort, do make reservations in advance, it is very popular.
Wednesday aha‘aina (lu‘au) called Hula Mana
Friday aha‘aina called Savai‘i.
Hula Mana primarily features the music, dance and chants of Hawaii, while Savai‘i features the music, dance, and chants of Polynesia.

skip Wed....its not what you expect for a luau
Plan on $103-135 pp for a good one... Kona Village
otherwise go to Dennys and order pog.
POG = Best drink ever
I don%26#39;t know why dan would say skip wed. it%26#39;s a different show but it is still a luau and it is still very entertaining. I%26#39;ve been to both and I enjoyed them both.
Maybe he like polynesian culture better than hawaiian. Oh well.
Bill
