Resort Dive Certification

Does anyone know if any of the resorts along the Kohala coast offer a resort dive certification option?

Fom what I have heard there are no, or very few ';resort certifications'; and to be honest with you, as the Mother of a Master diver, I wouldn%26#39;t trust them anyway! If you want to dive take the time to get certified before you go! Then take your cert and dive book with you.

I haven%26#39;t been able to get details yet, but I%26#39;ve noticed diving instruction being given in the pool at Kona Villge Resort. (They have a dive boat that goes out every morning.) I%26#39;ll give %26#39;em a call tomorrow and see what I can find out.

As a resident/diver...I have never heard of a resort course being offered on this island. Recently I becalme aware that on Maui they do this.

That figures...because Maui is totaly devoted to visitor recreacation. Not so here.

Personaly I think ';resort certification'; is a hiway to hell.... for a hundred more you could get full certification.... why would you want to play russian roulett with your life??? It is penny wise and pound foolish.... either do it right or dont do it.

And I respect the opinions of the others on this subject. But we%26#39;ve done this on Grand Cayman in the past and didn%26#39;t have any issues. We loved it and intended to get certified, but just have been too busy (I know...poor excuse) and now don%26#39;t have the time to get certified before our vacation next month.

I%26#39;ve heard many guest compliment the staff that is presently operating the ocean activities group at the beach shack.

BTW if you get an opertunity to see ';under the village'; a dvd produced by KVR you will see just how beautiful the bay in front of KVR is.
