Hawaii Honeymoon

aloha Pia! How about sharing a bit more about what you are planning on doing while on your honeymoon . . . are you just looking for a really great beach, peace and quiet? or are you wanting lots of activities? What kind - diving, snorkeling, ziplines?? Lots of choices in shopping, dining or maybe nightlife?? That will be a better way to narrow down the island that might suit you both best. We all have our favorites! AS well, how long of a honeymoon? That will greatly determine how much time you have - or even if you have time for more than one island. Let us know - we%26#39;ll try to help. :)

Not necessarily so. Aside from the fact that ';relaxing'; is in the eye of the beholder - Oahu is a gorgeous island ... not simply the city of Honolulu. While most accomodations on Oahu are on Waikiki -- there are some that are not. That being said, you will love the Halekulani ... but make sure that you visit the whole island.

You don%26#39;t say how long you will be gone. The Big Island takes time.

I know that choosing islands can make you crazy ... but you do have a year. I recommend that you ';sleep on it'; for a couple months.

If this is your first trip to Hawaii, a Maui/Oahu combination is excellent.

FYI -- Honolulu is not NYC. You are going to be pleasantly surprised!

I would like to do 3 nights in oahu and 4 in maui. I was even thinking on cutting out oahu all together. Looking for relaxation, good restaurants maybe some water activities such as snorkeling etc. But mostly relaxing on the beach.

A good rule of thumb is one week per island, so just make it Maui - I believe statisically, it is the Hawaiian island most chosen for honeymoons, with Kauai coming in second. Beautiful beaches, many good restaurants - hop on the Maui forum for more help and pick up a copy of Maui Revealed for some great details. Happy planning! :)

Guidebooks: I would stay away from the Big Island because of the vog right now. Better go to Maui. Guidebooks come and go and the one with the least credibility according to Maui locals is Maui Revealed. One that surpasses it is the new one by Lonely Planet.

there is less vog in Kona and Kohala than smog in NY and Phily.....

On a scale of 0-500 the average reading is 40-60.

if that puts it in perspective.... There is a lot of overblown worry

However with 7 days you are crazy to do more than one island.....I suggest Maui..... maybe Lanai for seasons for better beaches less people and relaxation

Sulfur dioxide emissions at Kilauea volcano%26#39;s summit have dropped sharply in recent weeks compared with the nine months since a new vent formed there in March, scientists said Wednesday.

While the sharp decline may be temporary, so might be the sharp increase for the past 9 months.

One thing about Kilauea, it changes periodically %26amp; the air quality %26amp; lava flow is affected.
