Flight & Hotel deals travel websites & honeymoon advice

Hi all,

I%26#39;m in the process of figuring out if I can afford a honeymoon in Hawaii for early July (6/29 - 7/10). The ';plan'; is to fly into Honolulu, stay a couple days, go to Maui for a few nights, then Kauai and then finally back to Honolulu to send another night or two and fly out of...

The issue, it seems like you can get some good discounts when you search flight and hotel together on sights like priceline/travelocity etc. but the only option it gives if you do it that way is to spend all 11 nights in the city you fly into. Anyone know a way around this??

I%26#39;d appreciate any other tips anyone could provide (or if you think i%26#39;m packing too much into the time period). We don%26#39;t have a ton of money for this, but I figure a honeymoon is once in a lifetime so why not go all out. I like hiking (altho FI isn%26#39;t as into it as me, so nothing too hardcore), definitely beach time, want to see waterfalls, volcanos, very into live music, and food isn%26#39;t too important (I%26#39;m a ridiculously picky eater, altho FI probably would like a couple nice meals).

Thank you in advance!!! We%26#39;ve been staring at the internet for a week and I%26#39;m completely overwhelmed, but we need to get this planned!

You can try multi destinations on Travelocity %26amp; many other sites like Expedia.

On Travelocity, toward the bottom of the white section, click on: Multi-destination trips

On the other sites like Expedia, you might have to look around their front page for the option or click on something like ';other options';.

Or you can get the 800 number off any of those sites %26amp; call rather than book online.

I think the general consensus on this forum is to stick with 2 islands or at least fly into Honolulu from the mainland %26amp; back form Maui (or Kauai). You would reduce your traveling by half a day.

Lots of info including sites with free brochures for all islands:

The HawaiianAir site offers multiple islands, easy to negotiate. However for a honeymoon I would pick one island. Go to Border%26#39;s and buy ';Hawaii for Dummies';...tragic title I know, however great book! Pick an island and park there! The last thing you want to do on your honeymoon is fight about who forgot to pack what schleping to the next island! Chill! Read the book and pick one island, if you must fly to Honolulu try and fly direct off of another island, Maui, Kauai, or Hawaii. Good luck!

Stratton,

Why don%26#39;t you compare how much it would be between multi-stop tickets or flying in and out of Oahu and then get inter-island flights to where ever you decide to go once you get there. I don%26#39;t know whether it would be cheaper or not. Maybe someone knows if they have ';hopper passes'; for a discounted rate.

Thanks all (it%26#39;s Stratton28 - i must have accidentally made two accounts)

I was just going to fly into honolulu b/c I heard it was a bit cheaper to fly into/out of there from the mainland. I think we may stick to two islands instead of trying to cram in 3. (I really don%26#39;t want to do just one, cause who knows if I%26#39;ll ever be able to make it back - and someone stated that the area around Honolulu looks just like any other typcial tropical place in another thread)

So, for travel between islands (thinking Oahu and Maui now) is the inter-island flight the way to go or ferries? Price differences? Any clue on how long a ferry would take?

Thank you!

Since you are in the research phase, you can try

http://www.kayak.com/

This one will search multiple internet travel sites in one shot.

Also

pleasantholidays.com/PleasantHolidaysWeb/Wel鈥?/a>

http://www.vacationstogo.com/

and costco travels.

I used vactions to go and found their package price (air + hotel) cheaper than if I had booked the same things seperately.

Stratton28,

I think when I looked into it, the Ferry was more expensive (I could be wrong) and it takes a couple of hours compared to minutes. While it might be fun, why waste the time. That%26#39;s just me. Also, on Kayak, why don%26#39;t you sign up for their daily alerts. That%26#39;s how I just found my ticket to go in May for $385.00. I love that site and usually get my best deals from there. You can put in for travel in the month you plan on going and it will show you the prices as often as you like. I do it daily instead of weekly or monthy, since the prices change day to day.

Hey hope you have a great honeymoon!

Check out air fare on Expedia.com - that will give you and idea of what that cost will be, and you can check several airlines to get the best deal.

Hotels, check out Travel Ticker or Hotwire, both offer great discounts on hotels.

Becareful with the farey, because you cannot take a rental car from one island to another. There are a few companies that offer iner-island flights.

Do a little research on the forum pages about activities and restaurants and such.

Hope that helps!

The ferry will take 3 hrs. from Honolulu to Maui. You CAN take a rental car from one island to another. It is comparable to the airfare. Would I take it? No, but that%26#39;s for personal reasons. It is an alternative form of transportation.

As I see it, you have 12 nights for your trip?

With that, the general guidelines would be to only try to see two islands. Especially after a wedding, and flying from the East Coast, you will be exhausted. Don%26#39;t try to do too much.

Personally, I would chose Maui and Hawaii (The Big Island) or Kauai and Hawaii.

But, I don%26#39;t like Honolulu or Waikiki, unless you are a couple that needs noise and crowds for your honeymoon.

There are direct flights into Maui (OGG- Kahului) or Kauai (LIH- Lihue) and Hawaii (KOA- Kona). You can easily find open jaw packages by some work on Expedia or Orbitz, also look at Prince Resorts, United or American Airlines for packages.

Pick 2 islands, stay 6 nights on each one. Don%26#39;t take the ferry. Book your inter -island flights. Oahu is a great island. I would go with Maui %26amp; Oahu or Oahu %26amp; Kauai.
