kayaking na pali coast

We would like to find out if kayaking/ hiking in March is possible. We would like to kayak the north coast and then take a 2 day hike of the interior of the island. We would like to do this March 6 -8th. We would like to rent kayaks and then hire someone to take the kayaks back so we can hike back. Is this possible? Any contact information?

Most likely too wet and too rough. Here%26#39;s a website and you could call them:

thanks, I%26#39;ll try it.

Close friends of mine kayaked the north shore but in the summer months. It was a great trip but the seas were pretty flat and they are very experienced. They kayaked from Ke%26#39;e Beach to Polihale and had a car waiting for them.

In order to hike back, you would need to go only as far Kalalau Beach. You would also need to have all of your gear with you on the kayak. I guess the folks who bring the kayaks back can bring your gear. I%26#39;m not sure how long it would take to hike the 11 mile trail but I cannot imagine doing both the kayak trip and the hike back in one day. You%26#39;ll need your camping gear.

Early March may be too rough but you can check with the local kayak companies for their opinion. I%26#39;ve heard of companies that facilitate this process. Again, the kayak company mentioned should be able to help out.

Erica has actually paddled the Napali Coast , all 17 miles, from Haena to Polihale..twice.

She went with Outfitters, both times, but the kayak companies do not start kayaking the Napali until about may, due to the north shore swells. Could be the beaches are not safe to attempt a shore landing in a kayak.

Also , you need a permit in order to land, and hike out of the kalalau.

You can contact the kayak companies, but I hope you have done some research and have an idea of possible ocean and trail conditions and march averages more rain than most of the other 11 months.

And , also understand what you might encounter on that narrow and slippery , steep cliffed, kalalau trail that tme of year.

We do a lot of hiking, and right now, some of our trails are extremey muddy, and slippery. So, we pick and chose carefully where we go.
