Well, DH and I were supposed to be going to Maui and Oahu on Feb 6th for two weeks. We have had to cancel again. There are several reasons for the cancellation. Some of which are related to his job. There are many unsettling factors with the job, and needing to search for another one, that we decided to postpone. He has been taking classes and now has a license in another field of work, thank goodness. We don%26#39;t know when a new job will happen, and most likely he will not have time off available for a period of time.
The last time I had to cancel a trip was last March. We re-scheduled for this Feb. Some of you may remember that. 99% of you were so understanding. However, I got blasted by the 1% for being depressed over the cancel issue. So I will not elaborate on the ';feelings'; part of it now. But you all know how it feels. :%26lt;(
Yesterday I am sure I made someone%26#39;s day! I called North West and cancelled out FF tickets. Someone has probably grabbed them up already!
If a new job comes along quite soon, we may be able to look ahead at next March/April (Easter time). If we wait till DH has had some time of the job, maybe the new employer would approve some time off.
I guess it%26#39;s back to what seems like my endless planning stage!
My mom and stepdad are going Feb. 2nd. I%26#39;ve been posting about that and getting info for them. All of you have been very helpful with that. Thank you.
Not so good news.Heavy sigh - hang in there!
Not so good news.Sorry to hear it Pattie but with the economic situation in our state I totally understand. The nation may be in a recession but Michigan has been in a full blown depression for a few years now.
Keep your chin up and keep on planning, it is going to happen and you will get back to paradise.
Ah Pattie! I understand how you must feel. So sorry to red that! Another cancellation, wow!
Chin up it sounds more like a postponement. You%26#39;ll get there. In the meantime, you can hang around and plan.
In the present economic situation you are making the correct decision. I really cant fathom anyone who is not wealthy and secure taking an expensive trip anywhere when the recession could easily become a depression.. The last time whe had a condition lke this it took almost 10 years to correct....
You have the rest of your life to take a vacation...Put it off for in the distant future....In the past decades people have been conditioned to instant gratification...doing what they want when they want...feeling deprived if they cant have it all.....
Now its time to face the music.... I would reserve any vacation and recreation funds for the next several years....If you cant get jobs... or if you loose yours...If time get worse you might be glad you did......
Hope for the best...prepare for the worst
Dont continue to plan ....that will only frustrate you more. Look for little things in your area , your town, your home to enjoy and appreciate.
When the going gets tough the tough get going.
Aw, I%26#39;m so sorry! We all know how much you were looking forward to this trip. Fooey!
OK, so you have to put this on %26#39;the back burner%26#39; now. There will come a time for it -- could be much later. I%26#39;ve yet to get to Scotland to do some geneaology. That trip was cancelled many years ago when DH had to have foot surgery, then the exchange rate became so awful -- but I still have the maps and names of places to stay.) You are welcome to join my %26#39;Someday%26#39; club!
Hang in there Pattie.
Everything will work out eventually.
Keep smiling Pattie.....it will all work out :-)
Bummer! Bummer!
With the economy as it is ... I think most vacations are tentive. :-(
I understand your frustration, but everyone I know seems to be worrying about losing their home and/or dealing with big issues with their health. Vacations are not EVEN on their radar.
So those who can even consider a vacation are soooo much better off than a lot of people ... that is what I%26#39;d focus on, how much better off you are than so many.
Hey Pattie, Hopefully we%26#39;ll all be here when the time is right. Sorry to hear you can%26#39;t make it this time. That man upstairs has a reason doesn%26#39;t he? Go have a Mai Tai, put Iz on kick back and relax, the time will fly and you will be planning again before you know it!!
