Question for Canadian West Coasters traveling to Kauai...

Hi there,

We are looking for flights leaving from Vanouver,BC to Oahu, (can%26#39;t find anything direct). Can you please advise on which airlines you have used and how you have booked. Also, do you book to Oahu with westjet/air canada etc and then book to Kauai with another airline? If so, how much time do you leave in between flights? Thank you! All the westjet/air canada flights that I have found have terrible flying times!

Try using Alaska Airlines. They fly direct to Lihue out of Seattle. The Vancouver connections are quite decent.

I know what you mean about AC. I%26#39;m really beating myself up that I missed the sale last month - $569 return to Oahu from SASK! Van was even cheaper and travel dates were until November 30thbut had to be booked before Christmas (22nd).

Hope Alaska works for you. We always prefer to have our long flight be the one that lands in lihue, rather than an island hop at the end. Another way is LA or SanFran to Lihue on United.

Good luck!

Alaska runs a pricey but direct flight from SEA to LIH as mentioned above. The outbound leg leaves at 4:20, so there%26#39;s plenty of time to drive or fly down to SEA. Returning is a little tougher as it%26#39;s a redeye that arrives into SEA at 6:50 a.m. What I dislike about booking a separate inter-island flight is that the interisland terminal is away from HNL%26#39;s main, and you may have to drag your luggage over from the main terminal to the interisland if the tickets are booked separately. If you book an AS connection via SEA it%26#39;s easier.

My niece lives in Vancouver, BC and is also looking for a flight to Lihue. The non-stop to/from Lihue from Seattle was only $556. Yes, there is a red-eye coming home but that%26#39;s typical. This is actually a great rate but I guess it will depends on dates of departure.
