I have an oceanfront room booked at the Moana but there%26#39;s no way to guarantee what wing you%26#39;ll be put in. The Alii is part of HHV I know but seems to be run like a separate hotel and the experiences seem more consistent. Any thoughts? Thanks!
Moana Surfrider or HHV Alii Tower?
In my opinion..definitely the ali tower at HHV. It%26#39;s so crowded at the Moana..that part of the beach very narrow whereas HHV has nicest beach with many pools. HHV is located at the widest portion of Waikiki.It%26#39;s so crowded with wall to wall people over there that it would not be that relaxing.HHV has everything shopping, abc stores, which i would suggest stocking your little frig. The ali tower is very nice..seperate check in appetizers complimentary from 5-7pm, and it%26#39;s own pool only for ali tower vacationers. I considered Moana also, so glad i chose the Ali at HHV.. ALOHA
Moana Surfrider or HHV Alii Tower?
It%26#39;s opinions that make horse races....
I would stay with the Moana. It is a much nicer hotel and a lot smaller. It is also in a better location.
The Hilton is just too big. It is a Vegas sized property with over 3,000 rooms and not even the Ali%26#39;i Tower can change that. Unless you have a couple of teens in your party, the Moana is the better choice.
I definitely like the location of the Moana better than HHV. It is in the middle of Waikiki and the HHV is down at one end and kind of separated from lots of the activity. I have stayed at Moana and if you have an ocean front room it will not matter which wing you are in. I like the tower rooms best but the others are OK as well.
We always know what tower we have booked by the room type. We always book a deluxe ocean tower room, this an ocean view in the tower wing. The room type names for an ocean view differ depending on where you have booked, the Diamond Tower has a certain room type name as does the banyan wing (if that makes sense). I can%26#39;t remember what they are called, I just know that the deluxe ocean tower room type is in the tower wing.
Anyway we LOVE the Moana Surfrider, have stayed there many times over the years.
We like the Moana better primarily due to the location of the hotel. We have never stayed at the HHV but do visit down there once every trip. (We like to eat at Benihana.) I%26#39;m sure the rooms are great.
We like the hustle and bustle of the main part of Waikiki and although it is busy, I would not call it crowded. HHV is far down at one end, somewhat far from main Waikiki Beach.
An oceanfront room will be great no matter what wing at the Moana. I would try to see if you can get them to guarantee a tower room which is where we like to stay. The Diamond Wing rooms are very small and have no balconies and the windows don%26#39;t open. Some people like the Banyan Wing which is the original part of the hotel but we have not stayed there or seen those rooms.
Have a great vacation. It will be fun no matter where you stay.
