Starting to plan a 1st trip to Oahu, need help

I picked up a Frommer%26#39;s guide to Hawaii and have been reading thru it but I find that TA forum folks always have the best advice so I%26#39;m hoping ya%26#39;ll can help me.

We%26#39;re looking to visit for a week in late Sept or early Oct 2009. I would prefer a condo but would be cool with a hotel that has a fridge. I%26#39;d like to keep our nightly rate around $250 as this is just one of three planned trips for 2009. I am a hilton honors and marriot rewards member so if you have good rec%26#39;s for them that would be great as well.

I%26#39;d like to be on or very near the beach. We%26#39;ll have a car but I don%26#39;t like to stay too far from the beach since I like to beach more than hubby.
